| Born in Quetta Pakistan [A valley surrounded by drymountains] At the age of 15 started pencil drawing. Became pupil of a signboard painter Ustad Aslam, who taught drawing and painting for next few years. Graduated in Fine Arts from National College of Arts. In NCA Khalid Iqbal became the ideal teacher along with very good teachers like Salima Hashmi,Colin David,Saeed Akhtar, Khalid Iqbal is known as a legendary landscape painter,.As most of landscape painters here in Lahore, are influenced by his style,I was not exception. I wanted to do something different and I found a way ,I painted cityscape reflected off a window glass plus the studio seen through the window. It was my thesis painting. From here I learned about reflections and trancparency and it suited my personality. Then I kept exploring trancparency and reflections. But landscape is still in my subconcious. It is very difficult for me to say some words about my paintings,I decided to add comments of different Artists and critics , and ofcource your comments are welcome.I will try to include on this page. |
From:Tusitalo Senior Member Taylor, Michigan USA Very good, it does look like reflections on a wet surface. You have captured the feeling without the representational aspects... The layered effect is almost like a disolve used in movies. .................................................................................................................................................................................... The inverted bottles seem to be a key, that I dont quite follow,Can you explain them or are they just visual elements. From: Eduardo Flores WC! Guide Cuiabá - Mato Grosso Many ideas about this good, interesting, unusual painting. First, its composition: a balance with a rotating movement, given by the centered structure from one side, and the two windows (one high, the other low) from the other. Then, a successful feminine figure painted using an unreal, unusual color. And the chromatic composition: emerald green as dominant, blue and subdued red as complementary colors (both at 120° on the colors wheel). The bottles? What about those bottles, nicely standing on a vertical plane? Their meaning, only the artist can tell us; to discover their function, I covered them with a finger, and the painting loosed force, too evenly distributed, too calm. I'm seeing them as pointers, drawing the observer's attention to the center o the scene, to the Woman. From: Ronni Veteran Member Hello maqbool. I love the colors first, and the blue in her hair sings for me. I love also the game of shapes and colors in front and behind the glasses. I also love the girl. I am not sure about the all together, but I feel I understand you and accept it as is.
